Laos - Laos calls for stronger Vietnamese investment

The Lao Government always encourages and creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors, welcoming them to invest further in Laos, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong said on September 10.

The Lao PM made the statement in Vientiane when co-chairing, along with PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, the Việt Nam-Laos Investment Cooperation Conference, with the participation of over 300 enterprises.
The Lao PM asked relevant Lao agencies to create more favorable conditions for already licensed Việt Nam-Laos investment projects to become operational soon.

The Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment pledged to coordinate with relevant agencies to adjust laws and policies, especially tax and customs ones, in favor of Vietnamese investors.

Representatives of Vietnamese enterprises that have investment projects in Laos proposed the Lao Government to have more flexible mechanisms and policies on labor training, infrastructure development, especially construction of roads, electricity systems and communications networks, and procedure simplification.

To date, Vietnamese enterprises have had 203 investment projects totaling over US $3.3 billion in Laos. Nearly US $1.1 billion has been invested in service, with the capital of Vientiane-Long Thành Golf project amounting to nearly US$1 billion.

All Vietnamese-invested projects in Laos are implemented on schedule and highly effective, contributing to the country’s socioeconomic development, according to the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment.

On September 10 afternoon, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, his spouse and the Vietnamese Government delegation left Laos for Việt Nam.
